Purple Ninja: How do I help teach maths to someone with suspected dyscalculiar?
I have been given charge of a girl a year younger than me who I suspect had dyscalculiar. I’m meant to teach her maths but conventional methods don’t seem to work. Does anyone know a way that I could get her to understand? Btw, I’m 15.

It’s dyslexia and im dyslexic :L
It might not be dyscalculia, some people do just struggle with it and need different methods to be taught. I have Dyspraxia which overlaps slightly into dyscalculia, the best way to teach is to just try as many different methods as possible to get it through to her. Use drawings and interesting images to get her attention, go through things several times, write it down for her on little post-it notes and put them up in her room. Just be imaginitive, you’d be suprised by what actually works, I had to try a lot of different methods before I realised what worked for me.
Good luck, don’t give up on her!
