themoonmakesnoreply: How do I get my money back for a terrible hotel room?
I stayed at the Manhattan Broadway Hotel in New York last week. My room didn’t have the following things listed to be in every hotel room when I reserved it: alarm clock radio, armoire, and ironing board. The bathroom door didn’t close and the maids turned off the air conditioning in my room during the day. It was a terrible deal. Is there any way I can complain to the hotel and get my money back?

Not now.
Maybe if you had complained the day after you might have been able to do something about it, but a week later?
Answer by ChelseaYou probably won’t be able to get a refund, because it’s now a week later and you’ve already checked out. However, if you would’ve talked to the hotel manager/front desk at the time, they may have credited you for your room, or given you a discount.
Now that it’s a week later, your best bet is to write a letter or call corporate (whoever owns the hotel..) and express your feelings that way. They most likely won’t give you your money back, but they should give you some sort of compensation, probably in the form of a discount if you ever stay at another hotel owned by that company again.
Answer by JohnIf you have paid by credit card and haven’t been billed yet, you can dispute the charge.
However, staying at a hotel for a night is like signing a contract. If you have found out that things are missing and should have been in the room, you should have – theoretically – dispute that “contract’ right away. By sleeping there, you accept – at least partially – the contract. I would also believe that some courts – if you’ll waste your time and money and try to claim your money back through litigation – would tell you that the things lacking in the room were not so substential that they have disturbed you from spending the night there, and therefore not all the charges (if any) should be returned to you.
You can also write a complaint to the hotel management, and hope for the best.
Most importantly, you can leave a bad review on them on TripAdvisor and similar places where people look into in order to learn more about the hotels:
