A P: How do I get my computer to recognize my USB port?
I recently had a format/reinstall of my computer, and since then it seems my computer fails to recognize my USB ports to some degree. The device manager says they are there and working properly, and when i put in my iPod it charges. However, no USB icon appears in the task bar anymore, I can’t use the safely remove hardware function, when I go to mycomputer it only tells me that I have my harddrive and my dvd rom drive, thats it. Before, it told me about those drives along with the USB drives. iTunes says my iPod is not hooked up when it is, and my flashdrive cannot be accessed at all. No “new hardware” found notice or anything pops up. I’m running Windows XP, service pack 2. Could anyone possibly help me with what I am supposed to do to fix this problem? I can give more details if neccesary.

Maybe you forgot to reinstall your ipod driver. Do you have the disc that came with your ipod? It contains drivers. REInstall it too so that your computer recognizes your ipod.
My laptop sometimes have similar problems when I use up all USBs together at the same time.
Answer by mark_wintermoonwhen you reformat your computer, some drivers for certain hardwares have not been able to reinstalled.
Inorder for your flash drive to be recognize by your computer, install the driver for that certain USB flash drive. You can download the driver from the website of your USB flash drive manufacturer.
