How do I convince my Dad to let me get a rabbit when he says my cats will eat it?

Mae D: How do I convince my Dad to let me get a rabbit when he says my cats will eat it?
My mom said yes to a rabbit but my dad says that the cats will just eat it, what should I do?

My daughter had hamsters, a science fair project of 30 mice and a dwarf lop-ear rabbit in a house with 2 cats and 2 dogs. Nobody ate anybody else. Just put the rabbit in a good cage and watch it closely while you let it out. The cats will be curious, but the rabbit will be nearly as big as them. If 2 cats didn’t get my daughter’s mice and hamster, they aren’t going to get the rabbit.

keep the rabbit away from the cat at all times. keep it in a room it never goes into. that should do the trick.

Tell him he’ll always be in the hut and when the cat can go into the garden the rabbits will be in the hut locked up.

Your cats would indeed try to eat a baby bunny – which is why, if you get one, it should always be in it’s cage, safe from the cats, unless you’re playing with it. Even with you present, though, the cats are likely to try to dart in and grab the bunny and run off.
On the other hand, a fully-grown New Zealand White rabbit can decidedly hold it’s own against any domestic cat. It has razor-sharp hind claws that it can use to disembowel a careless cat… So what I’m saying is, your father is probably right to try to discourage you from getting a rabbit. Bunnies and kitties are simply incompatible.

I have a rabbit. He gets along with cats fine. You should just introduce the rabbit at a young age and the cats will know what to do. They might even “adopt” him. Cats and rabbits can be the best of friends.

well you have to think a moment, which is better for you the cats or the rabbit?some bunnies get along fine with cats but i don’t think YOURS will.y u ask?because rabbits and other animals need to meet when young.a cat will scratch your rabbit to DEATH i know because i had a cat and rabbit at the same time so i gave away my cat and kept the bunny
