Simply Me: How do I convince my dad to get me a dog?
My dad thinks he is gonna end up taking care of the dog. How do i get him to realize i am very responsible? I already do chores around the house and my room is very neat.

every one should have a dog, give him your best puppy eyes
explain to your Dad that you would be responsible for it and take excellent care of it. You would love it and never get tired with it. Tell him that it would make you very happy and that you want to prove your responsibility. Also add that it would be safer for the whole family if you got a dog because they are excellent protecters and will make a burglar/ murderer think twice about breaking in.Answer by alias7484
Well, that’s good that you do all that, but puppies are REALLY like babies — they need that much attention. If you go to school or work AT ALL, then your dad probably WILL end up taking care of the dog, with training, exercise, cleaning up after, and so much more. Unfortunately there are lots of kids who don’t realize that until AFTER they get a puppy. I have seen quite a few posts just in the past few days, where teens finally have this puppy they’ve always wanted and now it’s “ruining their life,” and they “had no idea a puppy was so much work.”
Puppies cry during the night when you first bring them home, sometimes for weeks, so don’t plan on getting any sleep. They also have to have at least one potty break during the night when they are young. Housetraining can take months. Done the right way, the pup is under CONSTANT supervision when not in its crate, and even then you are likely to have quite a few messes. Then there’s teething, so be prepared to lose a few pairs of shoes and other various items around the house. Puppies need shots, vet visits, and you should always be prepared for that emergency visit should your dog come down with a serious illness or swallow a dangerous object or something like that.
I could go on forever, but I won’t. I suggest your next move be to volunteer at an animal shelter, and do a lot of reading on dog training and how to raise a puppy.
Good luck.
Answer by aselvarialTalk to a local animal adoption agency about letting you foster a dog. That way you can prove to your dad that you are responsible for taking care of a dog, and find out at the same time if you are up for taking care of one long-term. It will also allow another dog to be rescued from a kill shelter. If you decide you are not able to do it long-term, then you just need to finish the fostering until someone adopts the puppy.Answer by Caro W
The best way to make your parents to get you a dog is to persist and keep asking till he wants you to do something like get tutor lessons say that you wont go and they will find a way to make you go and only go if they get you a puppy because you dont want to do something and he doesnt want a puppy then take really good care of it and do your tutoring lessonsAnswer by κατταη-αχε ραώτικα
Well for starters, how about trying the following:
#1 Cleaning your room and making sure that it STAYS clean and tidy.
#2 Making sure that your homework is done and handed in on time.
#3 Sweep the floors in the living room and kitchen without your parents asking you to.
#4 Wash and/or dry the dishes.
#5 Do not fight and argue with your sisters & brothers.
#6 Eat what you are given and don’t whine or make “yuck” faces when given it.
#7 Don’t talk rudly to adults
#8 Always share with other kids.
#9 Go to bed when you are told to.
#10 Research the pet and breed you want to be 100% certain that it is the right one for you.
# 11 Ask them about getting this new pet in a nice way and don’t beg and whine about it.
If 100% sure that if you give those a try, they will see that you are serious about wanting to add a this pet to your life and family. 🙂
