james l: how come when i plug my camcorder into my computer nothing comes up? im using usb?
it worked fine a couple months ago. i used to be able to plug it in and a screen would come up with multiple programs i could open the pictures with. now nothing comes up. only a little icon at the bottom right comes up and it says “safely remove hardware”. i use a usb. also my computer has a virus so i dont know if that would affect it. please help! p.s. i already tried going into the “my computer” thing.

try restarting your computer
1. try turning the camcorder on…see if that gets a reaction.
2. Since that box is not coming up automatically, go to “my computer” (or computer if you have vista) then click on the removable hardware that corresponds with whichever USB port you are using.
3.If it doesn’t come up with the application you want it to open with. Go back to the “my computer” screen. Right click on that same removable hardware and choose open with….and pick your application.
4.If that still doesn’t work…open up the application first, then open up the camcorder file within that application.
