isn’t that a little wrong to have a station called Black entertainment television? What would happen if they had a white entertainment television?

hahaha This question has been asked from the start of that station. I do think it is kind of messed up, but I think it would be worse to have a white entertainment station. And some people argue that all stations (except for BET) are white stations. But I don’t agree.

You do have “white entertainment television”… just look on every chanel now. Maybe the question should be “why is there only one chanel for black entertainment”.

Does life have to be fair? And no one is stopping anyone from a “white entertainment chanel” it just depends on the content.

Everyone has a fit when people say “black power” and whine as to why cant we say white power. Well, history has proven they mean two ENTIRELY different purposes. black power was a revolution for unity and white power usually meant fu** everyone one else but white people.

BET is to provide Black Entertainment on the TV. It’s like MTV. MTV was never a racial thing, it was just made to provide music videos, no matter who sang the songs. Mexicans and Hispanics and such have Univision,Telemundo,Galavision and some others. BET is a channel that is geared to provide members of the Black Community, no matter where they are from, their financial status, Pride in who they are and what they could be. I see the same when I watch other channels’ Hallmark channel or Local channels on tv. Don’t people of any race have the right to take pride in who they are culturally or Racially? It is only what makes us who we are. You don’t see people saying Why is there a comedy central channel or a SPIKE tv which is a channel geared only to men, I watch that channel cuz of Star Trek. LOL. I don’t criticize it. BET is a channel just perhaps like any other channel White Americans could produce. It provides movies, tv shows, comedies, music and such. It isn’t wrong to have a Black Entertainment Television, This is a channel The Black Community enjoys with no regret or problems and other races enjoy it aswell. This is a channel to give Black Celebrities Coverage elsewhere and freedom to express to their communities. BET is only a channel doing everything any other channel already does for the White American. There should be no shame or ridicule for this station to be on the air.

If they though that “White entertainment TV” would attract audience, they would name it like that; that’s all. But with 80% of TV targeting whites there is really no reason to do so.

BET tries to promote black entertainers, but anyone can watch it.
