Answer by EbooksellerSocial networking is meeting people on a social network site like MySpace or Facebook for instance (and there are many more -just do a search on google for “social bookmarking” or “social network sites”), and build connections with them.
Many people who hang out on those sites may be interested in your offers or products, and they are easy to find if you search the social networking websites.
Answer by SamanthaSaysGet an account at some of these social networks.
Use your website as your Sig.
Make an interesting Video to promote your site and put it on your page.
Write some articles and brand them by inserting links to your site and put these articles on your page.
Contribute regularly to your pages and other members pages on the networking site to establish a presence (recognition).
This could be as simple as signing a guest book.
There are different techniques on getting traffic in a social bookmarking site, you can either:
– Upload each page of your site.
– Invite friends and add them in your network.
– If the social bookmarking site has a description when you submit your site, create a description that may grab their attention and make them come back to your website from time to time.
– Exchange bookmarks with other members.

Answer by GrizzlyYou might start with three easy to use social networks.
BloggingZoom.com
MyBlogLog.com
BlogCatalog.com
They are free to join and you will make friends quickly.
You will increase your traffic simply by visiting other sites that are in these networks. They will see that you have dropped by and will usually return the favor and visit you. It is also a great way to find sites that you wouldn’t otherwise know about.
Hope this helps and good luck.
Answer by Brent CsutorasAlright, since no one else is even in the ballpark to answering your question i will fill you in.
Social Networking is probably the term your saying when you mean to say Social Media Marketing.
Using sites like Digg.com, Reddit, and StumbleUpon, that utilize a voting system to raise or lower the visibility of submitted articles in their systems, to get a high volume of traffic and links.
You can make an account at any of these sites and jump right in.
There is no easy answer to getting into social media. It takes a lot of time. You need to treat it like entering into a real life social group and trying to make friends with the big players so they will help you succeed.
Think about how you should act in real life and apply it to social communities.
Make friends and network, learn what people are interested in, and don’t be spammy or demanding.
Problem is if you do everything right you are still going to have a hard time in the top social communities because they are network driven. It is really a who you know industry.
But the reward is normally upwards of 30,000 visitors in 24 hours and 1000s of quality links that help your search engine rankings.
I say this a lot but it is best to find a social media consultant who has a top level account to help you understand the community. They can help you prep your site and content to perform well and help you push the content to success.
Additionally you can find many niche social communities sites that take a lot less work than these top dogs.
https://mashable.com/2007/10/23/social-networking-god/ has a list of some 350 social communities that you can get involved with.
The smaller the community the smaller the reward so gauge for yourself what level you want to play in.
For Digg, Reddit, and StumbleUpon you should get a professional.
I spoke in New York at a Social Media Conference called SMX and had some slides that outlined some tips to succeeding in social media. I don’t normally self promote but I am a top users on the top social media sites and have some good information in the post.
