Arliss: How can I “make myself thirsty” in order to drink enough water?
Like everyone else this time of year, I’ve set a goal to lose weight this year (me and my wife). According to my body weight, I need to drink 134 grams of water (just over a gallon). I’ve drank a gallon of water a day before but it was always such a struggle because I just wasn’t thirsty all the time. How do I “make myself thirsty” in order to drink enough water every day?

If you keep your mouth open, like you do when you have a stuffy nose that makes you want more water. maybe putting some flavoring in the water will make you want to drink it more?Answer by Holly
Exercising will help you work up a thirst, especially if you sweat. Then, you will have no choice but to replenish your body with more water.Answer by Christa
i have a problem drinking water as well. I can go days with just maybe a glass a day and no more. needless to say, i’ve been warned that this is horrible for me so i’ve been drinking water a lot more. if you start your day with a glass of water you’ll crave it more as the day goes on. the more you drink it the more thirsty you’ll be. after i started drinking more water i started to wonder how i only drank so little of it before. it’ll just naturally be more of a craving the more you work yourself into it.Answer by magisa233
Water isn’t only in beverages. All the food you eat contains water, as well. In reality, you probably only have to drink 2/3 of a gallon. Hope that helps.Answer by Debbie Rocker
I don’t think that you can (in a healthy way) make yourself thirsty in order to drink more Arliss, I have the same issue as you do – I need to drink more water! I try to drink 2 – 3 glasses of water before I leave the house in the morning, take a large bottle of water with me and ‘force’ myself to drink during the day (especially while driving) and I try to drink a glass or two of water before lunch, again before dinner, then again before bed. The good news is, your skin and hair will look and feel better, you’ll have more energy, and you’ll eat less!
