krn_kimchi_kid: How can I get good at soccer in a short time period?
I’m 15 years old and I’m going to be a sophomore. I’m thinking of trying out for the soccer team. I’m not trying to get on varsity or junior varsity, but I don’t want to look like an idiot on the field. I just want to know how to get better at soccer over this summer. I have a soccer goal in my backyard. Just some passing routines and running routines will be fine.

If You Are Fast It Helps, But I would practice Shooting Because That is one of the things that take the longest to develop. Also Practice Juggling the Ball to help Your ball control.
a lot of people just have juggling skills and aren’t very good in game situations. the best way to get good is to practice settling and passing the ball. like if u have a wall around where u live just kick the ball at the wall and practice settling it and shooting. then just participate in pick up games and learn the pace. i’m only 16 and my little brother is 13 and we play all the time. you don’t really have to have amazing skill to make a team. usually if a coach sees that you really want it and are working hard, regardless of your skill level, he will most likely put you on the team.Answer by Molly001
Try to get your passing, dribbling, and shooting accurate enough so you don’t stumble. Keep your feet very light and quick and just do some foot work with the ball.

Answer by FritzFind a wall and strike the ball at it. This will practice your shooting. When the ball rebounds you control it, and this enhances this skill. Also, when you’re not playing football, watch football and learn from the professionals.Answer by Kierstin bay bay xD
Try suicide, or sprints. In soccer, it helps a lot to be fast. Use cones and place them in your yard each one getting farther away from you. Run to the first one, then back to your original starting place. Keep doing so… It helps alot with your speed.Answer by heart-broken
That depens on the position u play:
if u play an attack position: on ur shot and pass and header and as an extra special moves
defence:on ur long pass and short and how to stop the attacker(don’t know what u call it)
midfielder:everything mentioned above
goalkeeper:on ur speed of catching balls and fitness
the most important thing to do is ur fitness, try running 5km every two days
Answer by ShanelleTry for goalie! That’s what I play. Make sure you stay out of the net, however.Answer by Anthony

Truthfully, you can’t get good in just a couple months or less. It definitely takes practice. However, having a soccer goal helps. What you can do is find cones, hell, even sticks, and weave through them to practice dribbling. Juggling DOES help, though you shouldn’t solely concentrate on that. What a good high school coach will typically judge you on is your first touch, and ability to move/pass the ball. Otherwise known as ball control. To improve first touch, kick a ball at a wall and settle it. Repeat that for a while. To improve ball control, do the sticks/cones thing. Also remember, find a friend who might want to play with you! Friends can really help with anything, and they’ll keep giving you competition.Answer by Harshy
hey man iam on varsity and i suggest that u practice having the ball at your feet most of the time for more control. i just keep the ball at my feet and i just dribble around the house lol! also u gotta do some good amount of conditioning to build ur speed.. good luck bro!Answer by Arun
you cant get good in a short time. It will take a while and in that time do some conditioning and just practice shooting and dribbling.Answer by Trey
Well if u want to be a beast at soccer u need to have three thing, speed, stamina, and ball skills. i set up like a 3 day twork out for me but u dont have to do the 3rd day because ur not a keeper( i dont think or u would have said so). The first day i would work on stamina and speed. Go for a long distance jog(if ur not in shape start slow like 1 mile or what ever) then come back and streech out. After that u could do different distance wind sprint, change of direct( set up like a big triangle of cones or flags and sprint then try to change ur direction without slowing down or slowing down just a littl bit). Also , if u have them do ladder. The next day just do a lot of ball skils things(juggling toe taps, bells…..ect.). Also, do some shooting drills(dribble to the cone and shoot, set up something as like a wall and practice free kicks. Another thing u could do is crossing, dribble down the side and cross to like a cone or something in front of ur goal.Answer by Bob
practice hittting long balls at the park with a friendAnswer by You.Stole.The.Cookie
go with your basics. your passing, and speed.
most people would go with the dribbling, but thats showmanship, which will develop when you imrpove your passing and skill on the ball…trust the ball and your teammates and you will not make a fool of yourself.
