When you save enough money to buy one.
A pony cannot carry much weight good thing they grow into horses being you didn’t specify a shetland pony.

Cherishalatina is wrong. Pony’s do not grow into horses, horse foals do. It depends on the size and breed how much weight they can carry. You have to live in a place where you are legally allowed to have a pony, it is not all fun and games you have to muck out their stall once or twice a day and exercise is needed daily for the animal. You must have enough space in your yard and a shelter meant for one. You should have a pasture. The food is very expencive and they need a lot of it. If you don’t have this you should get something smaller and learn about it first, I know it sucks but you just aren’t going to convince your parent’s to move for a pony. I recommend a dog, a snake, rats, a bunny, or a cat.
