How bad does a conch piercing hurt compared to a foot tattoo?

jessie: How bad does a conch piercing hurt compared to a foot tattoo?
I have a tattoo on my foot and it hurt pretty bad but i really want a conch piercing!! I want to know what to expect, the only piercings i have are 2 in my ear lobes. Would the conch piercing hurt more than my tattoo did? And is it like a stabbing pain when they do it?

I think the Foot tattoo’s are VERY EXTREMELY PAINFUL!!!!!!

It really shouldn’t because:
it takes three seconds to pierce
it’s one motion
it’s with a hollow needle
No, it’s not like a stabbing pain- it’s more of a big pinch and then it’s over with in seconds (pinch from the pressure)

You can’t really compare the pain of a tattoo with the pain of a piercing, they are two entirely different sensations.

They do tend to hurt more than earlobes though, as conch piercings are cartilage piercings. But no one can tell you how painful it will be, as that depends on your unique pain tolerance. However the piercing itself only takes seconds, it’ll be over before you know it. Nothing at all to be nervous about, don’t worry.

I had a conch piercing – it was much more painful than any other ear piercing I’ve had, but it subsided fairly quickly. The main problem is that it’s difficult to keep conch piercings clean and the infection risk and general grossness is just not worth it. I took mine out after about ten months because I just couldn’t keep it from getting infected, no matter how careful I was. It’s been out for five years now and only in the last year or so has the lumpy scarring gone down. Bottom line: Don’t get one. Get a clip or something for that ear if you must.

Tattoos and piercings aren’t really comparable. One of my conch piercings hurt quite a bit and gave me problems while healing and the other didn’t really hurt at all and healed easily. I don’t know what this mumbo jumbo this other person is saying about them getting infected easily…if taken care of properly the risk of infection should be the same as all other piercings – relatively low.

Never let anyone pierce you with a piercing gun, I know you didn’t ask anything about that, but your answer is pretty much covered already, and a lot of piercing shops think it’s ok to pierce with a gun on things other than your ear lobes
