sas0814: How are entertainment jobs affected by recession?
Why do I never hear of lay offs or cutbacks regarding jobs that are in the entertainment field?
Such as pro sports, music, acting, etc.
Also why are they still making so much money if so many people are out of work or have reduced paychecks?

There are huge layoffs in entertainment. A lot of staff cutbacks. High taxes and fees to shoot in certain cities, including, unfortunately Los Angeles are making TV and film makers go to other states and countries because it’s cheaper. As far as sports goes, they have had layoffs also.
Keep in mind these industries generate a LOT of money. The players and actors and directors make a salary appropriate to their contribution to the profits. When they stop contributing to the bottom line, their money shuts off. They aren’t hired again. Football players make millions of dollars, but they only make it for a few years and then have nothing coming in. If they don’t plan, and they spend their money like fools, they will end up as broke as any old jobless person.
As to why you don’t hear about it… well the mainstream news only reports news it considers important. Don’t assume you are hearing everything that is important on CNN.
