Background information as in criminal record, marriage/divorce records, bankruptcy, etc.? That information will likely cost you some sort of fee. Try www.intelius.com, and/or go to www.zabasearch.com and search from there.

Or do you mean family history (which is what this site is about)? Try www.familysearch.org, or https://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/, or www.findagrave.com (these 3 are free sites that will get you started).

geneology is geat you can put your last name and will even give the origin of your last name …and who had it firs t as well as the original family and where they were from…
