Amber: Can a dog get herpes by chewing infected panties?
I have genital herpes and today after I got out of the shower, I came into my room and found my hamper spilled over and my dog chewing the dirty panties I had on right before my shower. I know dogs can get herpes from other dogs, but I’m just curious if a human infection can affect him in any way?
This is a sensitive question so thank you in advance to those of you who are mature about it.

no dogs cannot get human herpes. The worste thing you’d have to worry about is the dog actually eating the panties and then having an obstruction.
Can’t cross species… As Human to animal.. However you may want to put your dirty clothing where your dog can’t get to it..Answer by Shelby L

herpes can only be spread by contact, skin to skin. Not like a toilet seat, or panties… TRUST ME!

Your form of herpes is not a zoonotic disease (zoonotic diseases are diseases that can go from species to species i.e. dogs to humans and humans to dogs.). YOur dog should be fine.
