Srivatsan: Hard disk not getting displayed in “My computer”?
I have a Seagate HDD. I connected it some time back. I regularly got messages like “Found new hardware”, “Your device is ready to use” etc. But when I go to “My computer”, its not displayed.
I browsed the web for solution. Couldnt find any. Please help me with this. It was working yesterday. I have a lot of important data in the hard disk.
I am also getting this error in Device properties . “volume information for this disk cannot be found. this may happen if the disk is a 1394 or a USB device on a Windows 2000 machine”
I have XP OS and my hard disk is not getting displayed in “Disk Management”.

Assuming you have Windows XP….
Click with your rightmouse on My Computer, select manage.
Proceed to your Disk Management under Storage.
Can you see your disk there?
Have you created a partition and formatted it?
Try a different USB port.Answer by Vikas Medhekar
There might be a problem with your hard disk, for example, it is corrupted. Or otherwise, there are some issues in registry or hard disk installation. Repair the registry using Reginout.
