NayNay: GYMNASTICS???????????????????????
im 14 years old and i really want to learn gymnastics. i did gymnastics when i was 5, then quit for other things. for the next 9 years, there had always been times where i wanted to start up again, but i never did. i dont want to compete, i just want to do it for fun. i really want to learn handsprings and walkovers, and round-offs and flips in general. these seam to be around level 4 and 5, so can you please tell me (on average/in general) how long it would take a person my age (who isnt very flexible) to get to level 4 and 5 and how many hours a week i should practice? and any tips you have? please, mean comments dont help me. thanks! 😀

hey there! im a level 10 gymnast so i might be pretty helpful 🙂
anyways, ummm if you want dont want to compete i would recommend you dont get into levels but do like recreation and stuff like that because when you get into levels you pretty much have to learn ALL of the events. or you could just take a tumbling class. that might be even better than training at the gymnastics center. hope i helped!
well if you don’t want to compete and you only want to learn tumbling, then your local gym should offer a tumbling class where you only learn flips. but if you want to do other stuff as well such as beam and bars and vault then you should do the regular class. how long it takes is different for everyone, but if your not very flexible…maybe around a year or two? its hard to tell.Answer by Janelle W
hi natalie, i am 14 as well, and also do gymnastics. i train only 5 hours a week and i have been doing gymnastics for one year, i am not flexible and can do splits on both legs, walkovers, round offs etc and i am going to be moving onto flips in about a month. If you are determined enough it should not take you too long to be able to do these things. try stretching before bed as well.
age 14 is a great age to start gymnastics as you understand control and tightness and where to put your head etc…. good luck!
