carygainey1981: How can i get the father to give up paternal rights?
The father has run off when i found out i was only 3months. Is there any way i can make the man give up his paternal rights to my baby? Im just afraid he will try and get rights when he hasn’t done anything to help with the baby. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

call luigi and his buddies and get them to lean on the guy
just ask him, explain that he wouldn’t make a good father and let him know that you don’t want him to be a part of their lives… children need a mother AND a father… you should either reconsider or find a father figure for them.Answer by DLeibowitz
This varies from state to state. However, you could file a court petition to compel him to give up his parental rights. If he has run off and you can’t find him to serve him with the legal papers, you can publish in your state and county and that should be sufficient for the court to take jurisdiction. The court order will terminate his parental rights. If you are married, the natural father, called the “putative father” could have parental rights but they are less than the rights of a father to whom you are married. The court procedure I described should do the job. If you are eligible for legal aid, seek it out. You may want a lawyer for this if you can afford it.Answer by juliepup_pupgirl
Boy that’s a rough one! If I was in your predictament I would have to say that I would first get with the Human
Services Department and ask them how would be the best way to handle the situation.Answer by MooK8E
If that babie’s not born yet, don’t name him on the birth certificate. If your baby is born, congrats btw, file a court order. There are many lawyers who will give legal advice for the first hour free. I would find one of these to get advice so you make sure you do this right. Good luck!Answer by Loss Leader
Unless you have a boyfriend or girlfriend ready to adopt the child, there is no way to do this.
However, there are two pieces of good news:
First, the Courts will look into the father’s behavior when considering any request for visitation, so generally you do not have to worry that he will sweep in and try to “take” the baby.
Second, the father’s obligation to support the child never goes away. If he sues for visitation, you can sue for back support all the way to the birth of the child. In fact, you can sue for that support right now if you want.

personally, i wouldn’t want him to give up his right unless he was a true harm to the baby. take him to court and get child support. the best way to make a man pay for his mistakes is through his wallet. get him for every penny you can!
