The Knif: Do you have any good recipes for Spam?
My grandfather hates Spam, he first saw it in WWII and said he didn’t know what was worse, the violece to people or the violence to food. (Yes, he was joking, but he really hates Spam). His birthday is coming up and we want to make him a Spam cookbook. Any ideas?

Well, I love Spam and have a couple of favorite recipes – but it would be hard to give them to you, if you aren’t really going to try them. Deeelicious!
OK – I changed my mind. Spam & Egg Sandwich Supreme:
Fry two slices of Spam, set aside.
Fry an egg, set aside.
Butter two slices of bread, place one, buttered side down ,in medium hot skillet. Top with the fried egg, then the Spam. Add a seeded medium hot salad pepper, and a slice of cheese. Top with the other buttered slice of bread. Grill it until toasted, flip over with spatula and grill other side, like a grilled cheese sandwich. After cooking – open sandwich and spread with mayo, add salt and pepper.Answer by Colby K

Spread a kaiser roll with Kraft Sandwich Spread.
Add a 1/4″ slice of Spam, a slice of mild white onion, and 1/4″ thick slice of velveeta cheese loaf. Wrap each sandwich individually in foil, and heat in a 350 degree oven approx. 15 minutes. Check for ‘doneness’- Cheese should be melted, and onion should be slightly soft.Answer by Craig T
Ah Spam erm well off the top of my head the good old spam fritter comes to mind
spam sliced
250g of flour
1-2 eggs
pinch of salt
100 – 200ml of full fat milk
vinegar/lemon juice/brown sauce etc for taste
This is off the top of my head so meh might need some adjustment
sift flour in a mixing bowl make a well in the center add salt and beat in the eggs and a little milk then the flavour (wouchester sauce is nice) add more egg if the consistency is not runny enough (needs to be thick but runny enough to coat the slices of spam) when the batters right for you (thinner = crispy, thick = stodgy I like it stodgy) Coat the spam with the mixture deep fry it until golden
you can use any batter recipe for this but this is the only one I remember off the bat
also you can make spam pate
spam
lemon juice
breadcrumb
a blender
cut the spam into cubes blend with lemon juice and add the breadcrumbs to get the right consistancy (you can add onion or herbs to the pate if you like)
Answer by Amy CMy husband introduced me to this recipe, it’s been in his family for years:
Cube a whole can of Spam along with some finely chopped pepper or jalapeno, saute in a pan until slightly browned, add 2 cans of tomato paste and about 1/2 cup of water, stir well.
Serve over white rice. It’s pretty good. (The rest of the family eats it with sliced bananas in it but I opt not to add that ingredient….)
Answer by SwirlyMy husband loves this casserole, I usually double the recipe…I got the recipe from my Mother years ago…..
