Derek C: Need help determining if I qualify for homebuyer’s credit?
I am not a first time home buyer but second home buyer. I purchased a home in ’02 lived in it until June of ’09. I purchased a new home in June ’09 and still own my other house and renting it out. From what I am reading it sounds like I qualify but need some validation that I am correct.

You do not qualify for the repeat homebuyer’s credit.
You qualify for neither credit.
The $ 8000 credit requires that you have not lived in and owned a home in the 3 years prior to the purchase. As you lived in the first home after June 2006, you do not qualify as a first time homebuyer.
The $ 6500 credit requires that you purchase after 11/6/2009. Your second home was purchased too early to get this credit.
Answer by MadManYou do not qualify for any federal house buying tax credits.
