Pat M.: How can I put a desktop icon next to my start button?
I used to have the word “desktop” next to my start on another computer. I have WINDOWS XP and would like to get it. Fairly new to computers so if anyone can help I would appreciate it. I have no idea where to begin to do this. Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this is what you want, but it may help:
Right-click on a blank area of the taskbar, then select “properties”. Put a check in the “Show Quick Launch” box, then hit OK.
This will make Windows show the Quick Launch icons, one of which will show you your desktop (by minimizing all the windows).
Answer by BoneMidgetPretty easy, just click with the right button of the mouse on top of the icon, then hold and drag to the desired position.
