lese: Denial of credit card on account of Insufficient Life History?
I recently applied for a target credit card, but i was denied because I have “insufficient life history”…. is that the same as insufficient credit history? I am 20 years old. I have rented a place for about 2 years, i leased and paid off my car, i am always on time with my bills (phone, utilities, etc.), and i also have a care credit card (vet use) that was paid on time and is currently paid off…and I just don’t understand why that would be considered insufficient credit history…if so what is sufficient?

phones and utilities don’t count on your credit unless you default. So you have only one account which was only open a short time. Thats why.
It appears to me that most of your creditors haven’t submitted data to the 3 major credit bureaus. Go to https://annualcreditreport.com and get a free copy of your credit report. Also, apply for a credit card from your bank.Answer by Amber L
if you don’t have any credit cards or a mortgage it is considered insufficient. that is because you are not old enough to have established good credit with any creditors. ie they cant establish how well you pay your bills i am 24 and have had credit cards since i was 18 and they still say my credit score is what it is because of not have a sufficient history. just try for another credit card because that is the only way you will build your credit. i hear gas cards are easier to get. good luck to youAnswer by In Hiding
As someone previously posted, your utilities don’t count on your credit unless it goes to collections.
If you want to build credit, go to capital one- they ask you to give them $ 75, and they will give you a credit limit of $ 200. After a year of ‘good behaviour’, they give you your $ 75 back, and increase your limit. As time goes on, your credit is getting better and better. Keep paying it off in full every month, and you’ll have excellent credit in no time!Answer by franky
Don’t get a target credit card. They are the worst. If you have sent you payment in and it arrives 1 day late they will call you day and night even on Sundays. Like the other posted said go to capital one they are a better company to work with. start with a small limit and work your way up.
