owizeisme: Credit Checks on job applications?
I been applying for a few jobs online (craigslist) and I know some of them are spammers and scams. I recently applied to a few administrative assistant position and they emailed me back saying the usual “thank you for applying, we are interested in you, blah blah blah…..but before we can continue with your application we would like for you to submit a credit check and send us your credit score”. That sounds fishy to me, and more than one job that I submitted to has done this. Before I go any further I want to know is this legit? I dont want to submit any info like that to a scam. Do companies really ask for a credit score?

Yeah but they don’t come out an ask you to get that information to them it is more like you authorize them to get that information on their own dime never pay for their credit check.
Keep an eye open.
They just want to make sure you are not one of these bankrupt people that has starving children at home, and would steal anything and everything from a company.
I’ve seen these people, they have even come in my desk to take money out of my wallet.
When you have crying babies at home – you’ll do anything – I guess.
A credit score gives a good indication to the employer that you are not in this much financial hardship.
One thing you can do – so you don’t have to pay for a score is google:
FICO SCORE ESTIMATOR.
The company will never know if the score you give them is exact or not.
If you must be honest, check all your reports at
annualcreditreport.com
After you fix all errors get your score from Equifax.com for about 8 bucks.
Note: Never pay anyone any fee or give anyone access to your checking account for any reason.
A job pays you – — you don’t pay them.

That is a Scam don’t do it, they will have all your personal info and you can have identify theft!
I am out of work 7 months and apply on craigslist and get those I just delete its awful that this is going on but people are taking advantage of those unemployed and vulnerable. Look on Career builder, monster.com, jobs.com and go to Indeed.com. keep looking on craigslist but dont answer when they ask for this personal information.
good luck
Answer by Ghana Bananathese are all identity theft scams, dont ever fill out anything on a site they send you to, they are trying to get all your personal info. Go to experian or another reputable credit check company and tell these people you will bring a copy of your credit score when you come for an interview, not before
