Purplerox: How can I convince my parents to let me get a puppy?
I want to get a pomeranian puppy, but I’m not sure I can convince my parents… I have already prepared a powerpoint and I’m researching, but I’m curious about what else I should do to convince my parents.
Answers from people who have convinced their parents to let them get a pet would be great 😀
Thanks!

Just show them how responsible you are. Help around the house and do a bunch of chores without being told. Don’t let them know you are acting this way just because you want a puppy. If they ask, then just be like, “Well, I feel like I am getting old enough to take on more responsibilities around the house.”
Good luck!
Answer by alexflanagan1995keep up your responsibility, and be really respectful and helping out around the house, don’t even mention it for almost a month. and research everything from grooming, health, training, housing, etc. know everything about the breeds ups and downs, and work out an entire plan of how your going to house this dog, train it, what your going to feed it, and that you are willing to take on full responsibility and even help pay for it’s food/meds best you can. unless they have an issue like low funds, or allergies. then eventually they should be willing to let you get a dog.Answer by danica
Just try to tell them that you know how to take care of it, and that you would buy it’s food and clean up after it..and tell them you would train it and things like that to let them know what your capable of doing. I tried this with my parents and they accually did it!!! and once you get the puppy the parents acually help you out(: let me kno if i helped you anyy!!!Answer by Tiger Lily
i had this trouble when i was 12. What i did was help around the house , always have your room clean, show them how nice and responsible you are around dogs when you are walking around town and you see one. Also read about dogs on the internet and books and things like that , then tell them that have, of coarse. GOOD LUCK!!! hope i helpedAnswer by coonhunter
I think its adorible you what to get a puppy. We’ve always had dogs, but I always wanted a wimerimer (a type of shorthaired hunting dog). This is what I did, research, come up with some of the money, make sure you have room for the puppy, practise obedience, you don’t need special training classes, before you show them the information you’ve come up with, clean the house, or pick it up. Remember a puppy will need 2 to 3 walks a day. Start training on day 1, pracitse sitting, staying, laydown, and other simple tricks. Also start house training your puppy on day one, train it to ring a bell(that hangs on the door) so you know when it needs to go potty. Make sure you have time. You need to show your parents you are willing to give up tv, gaming, and computer time, to spend it with your puppy. Do good in school. Doing good in school will help you not struggle as much, so you will have more time for your puppy. The best way to house train a puppy is to buy a crate, toys, collar, and leash. Toys will help your puppy bond with you. Start practising walking as well on day one. The crate should go in your room. The bottom should be covered with a dog bed. Buy the cheapish dished that work great and hang on the crate door, to prevent spilling. Include a stuffed animal and a toy in the crate, so your puppy isn’t as lonely when your not home. When buying your puppy remember, maybe a pomeranian isn’t for you. If you like exersizing and what a puppy to exersize with you will want a bigger more athletic dog. Consider where you live, is a apartment good for this breed? Do we have room for a dog? Consider grooming, some dogs like a pomeranian shed alot. If you don’t what this consider a shorthaired dog. Good Luck!!!! 🙂Answer by Mutt for the Truth
Here’s what i did:
Got a job. Earned the money. Started paying rent and doing chores. Got through my first year of college (all A’s and B’s) AT HOME (didn’t go away.) Then i asked nicely if we could get a dog under 30 lbs – they said probably not the first time (meaning no in parent speak.)
So i gave it up and borrowed my aunt’s dog (regular occurrence). Starting working with him to get my dog fix, “dog sat” him multiple times, multiple nights, and proved to them that they didn’t have to lift a finger with the 60+lb dog.
Once i had a good sum of money in my bank account AND i proved to them multiple times that i could handle my “own” dog along with everything else (college classes, work, chores, etc)….. they changed their minds.
Key point being – i earned the money and paid for the dog myself. Still do to this day. I also proved to them that my word is as good as gold – meaning i keep it.
Now, are YOU offering to pay $ 1,000+ (initially) for this dog? Any proof that YOUR word is good as gold?
