Drink lots and lots of beer. Don’t forget exam dates, since probably those are the only days you’ll go.
Make new friends that are of different cultures than your own.
Don’t drink and party too much- you can make some really bad choices if you’r drunk and college students may take advantage of you.
If you live in the dorms, keep your room tidy- your roommate will appreciate it.
Study hard at least the first semester, so you know what is expected at that college. It would be bad to flunk your first semester.
Keep in touch with your family and friends from high school.
Get involved in campus activities, not necessarily the sororities though.
Research the different majors available. Don’t be scared to change your mind, but do it early, don’t wait til you’re a senior!Answer by Design
do not listen to people like Alucard. all you need to do is do what needs to be done. you should treat college like high school. do what needs to be done to pass and move on. do not drink, smoke, etc. take the classes that you will really and only need (sometimes you have a choice sometimes you dont). make sure a get a good part time job to help you with your expenses, etc. …Answer by stonechic
the most important thing you can do for yourself is be responsible.
most of us can’t get through college in a drunken haze, so keep your wits about you when it comes to the party scene.
find a good dormitory on campus that is tailored to the needs of freshmen students.
find study groups for your classes and be willing to put in the time and effort to make and keep good grades. IT DOES MATTER!!
keep in close contact with your academic advisor, and ask for help from the professors and teaching assistants so that you truly know the material and do well.
join a group that likes to have fun but also participates in community service. it keeps you well grounded.
go to the school sponsored activities as often as your study schedule permits. they are generally free or low cost and that will help you keep a reign on your spending so you don’t graduate head over heels in debt.
take a “fun class” every term. it makes it easier to deal with the academics when you have something fun to look forward to each day.
learn to love the library! there is a whole world of knowledge and information to be had in the library and you need to use it.
don’t wait until you are hopelessly lost to ask for help – get a tutor at the FIRST sign of trouble. It saves not only your time and sanity, but your money and you won’t have to repeat a class to improve your gpa.
if you live on campus, you can get a meal ticket for your meals in the cafeteria. EAT REGULAR BALANCED MEALS. Junk food is fine now and again, but it won’t help you have the nutrients your brain and body need to succeed.
Otherwise, if you are off campus in an apartment, set regular hours and cook nutritional meals.
Above all, enjoy college. You are supposed to have fun and enjoy the experience, but don’t let other people convince you that fun means drugs, alcohol or unprotected sex.
Good Luck!
