gaby: How do I “clean” my computer to get a fresh start and fix prior problems?
Dell 8400 desktop its about 2yrs old. When I ordered it, it was supposed to have a dvd burner and a few months after I had it I realized it didn’t. They sent me the burner and gave my husband instructions on how to installed it. No problems for 1year. The problem started a few months ago after my husband decided to take out the non-dvd burner drive and switch it with another dell drive. He realize it was not going to work and put things back exactly how they were before, but windows professional does not recognize either drive now.
We went online and tried different suggestions on how to get windows to recognize the drives, but nothing worked. We paid a computer guy to come to our house and take a look. He said that the drives were fine, but as soon as he looked at the screen he saw that we had lots of software and folder on the desktop, he called it “junk” and said that when he sees that, that most likely its a software conflict problem. recovery, but you lose stuff you installed, but have to install them…..i know how to recover dell laptops, if you need help, let me know?
First goto control panel—-> add or remove programs
and then uninstall the programs u dunt need
after doing this u mite use a software calld ccleaner which is available for free @ https://www.piriform.com/go/ccleaner.com
it is used to remove junk files and resolve registry problems
repeat the cleaning process twice in a day!
then goto control panel–>add or remove hardware and click on the suitable options for the dvd drive

Answer by regaaIf your computer is not working properly when it is switched on, there is a hardware problem.
