Why are churches given tax exemption – why should atheists have to pay through taxation?

Rev. Aaron: Why are churches given tax exemption – why should atheists have to pay through taxation?
If we give one type of business a discount (churches) on their taxes then we have to make up for that revenue by taxing people in other ways.

Why does an atheist have to pay for religiosity? I think we’d all agree giving organizations that do ONLY charitable things should have exemption but why should others have to suffer through taxation for your religiosity?

Churches are non-profit organizations. That is why they are tax exempt, as are all non-profit organizations.

Answer by SmartA$$
A non profit organization that caters to atheists would receive the same tax exempt status as a church.

Answer by mercedes
Churches operate as charities on a not for profit basis. I haven’t checked, but suspect you will find that organizations like American Atheists also have tax exemptions as educational organizations so the godless and the believers are treated equally.

Why do homosexuals get to get married when marriage was clearly brought about by the Bible? Why do atheists have to runs their mouths ALL THE TIME…why do my tax dollars have to go pay for AIDs patients to get treatments because they were doing drugs in the first place? Why do people getting abortions get a tax break for it? If you don’t like it do something about it instead of clogging up our screens with your propaganda???!!!!

BTW the following is copied and pasted from your profile…since when are you advancing positive relations through example with this crap?????? TROLL:

The Church of Atheism seeks to advance positive relations with the public and our beleifs through example, community involvement, education, organization, and providing religious services. The Church will offer open discussion forums for all religions and members of the community who are with or without faith to address their doubts and differences in order to properly scrutinize the worth of their current dogmas especially in the context of contemporary society.

It’s called the Constitution of the United States. It’s called “Separation of Church and State”. Read it sometime.
