It depends on the airline, usually with a scheduled airline, meals are included in ticket price.

It depends on the airline. Most airlines in the US do not give free meals on domestic economy class flights, on long haul international flights you normally get at least one meal and sometimes two on very long flights.
In places like Asia, most full service Asian airlines will serve meals on flights as short as an hour.

Yeah, it does depend on the airline and the route. If you fly domestic in the United States, you have to buy the food if its available. On shorter flights (like from Northern California to Southern California) there probably wont be any food (like sandwiches etc…) to buy. Instead, the airline might just give you a snack and a drink (those are free)

International flights will probably serve meals cuz its kinda included in your ticket.

US airlines only offer free meals in economy on international flights.

There are snack boxes for purchase on most long-haul domestic flights, and free snacks are still common on shorter flights.

If you fly across the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean you should. Most U.S. airlines if you fly within the USA will not have meal service. Many Asian and European airlines will still serve meals on flights assuming they are not the discount airlines.

Flew from Taiwan to Hong Kong and received a full meal on EVA Airlines.
