Kemistree: Can i start dance at the age of 13 and become a professional dancer?
I havent had much dance experience. I think did ballet for a year when i was 7. That was it.
I want to be able to get into the sydney dance comapny when im 18 or so. I live in australia btw.
Also I want to transfer to a performing arts school when im in year 10.
Is it possible if i start dance classes now?
Im thinking of taking up; Contemporary, jazz and ballet?

yep. go for it 🙂 look on google
I think anything can happen if you have persistance and keep training your self. I can really answer the 2nd question about the transfer because I’m not from Australia but I can answer the last part too. Contemporary can lead you to music videos and modern concerts while jazz and ballet are more particular and they can put you into more formal and “high society” events. I certainly prefer contemporary because I love it when I dance with other on my age and that things are more fun.Answer by Tiger
Go for it! You’ll never know unless you try! After all, those professional dancers must have started somewhere, some maybe in your position. If you work and try hard enough, you can achieve your dream. Do your best, get out there and do your thing! Good luck! 🙂Answer by Ballet
It is really possible you are at a good age BUT you will have to really want it!
Take as many classes as you can, Teach as many classes as you can, teaching is such a great way to help your own learning.
Hang around the studio watch classes. Organize practice sessions with you class mates, dance together, then for each other, they can give you tips you give them tips then you have dance classes for free the girls that have been dances for years are very good teaches. Help anyone that needs a hand in class, helping them to learn the steps, when you teach others dances you pick up the steps better yourself. Make sure you stretch everyday my teacher always said if you can do the splits all three ways you can pass any exam you want.
An amazing resource to any ballet dancer is
It also will help you know if you have what it takes to be a professional dancer.

JUST GO FOR IT GALAnswer by Michelle
Definitely, as long as you work hard at it. There have been a lot of fantastic, even famous, dancers who didn’t start until later in life. Contemporary, jazz, and ballet are a good mix… maybe throw in some hip-hop classes too to broaden your scope and to have some fun!Answer by Lizabeth Warmer
Of course you can start dancing at 13! My sister did. And now she’s in all of the higher levels. And shes only 15 right now! She hasn’t been taking all that long eathor. But it does depend on your ability. But mind that you have to work very very hard! I do dance. I love it!
