I went to a wedding last week and the bride had no bouquet, but she had a corsage attached to her wrist. She walked to the altar holding hands with her parents, one either side of her. It was so lovely. There are some old fashioned reasons a bride carries a bouquet but I can’t remember them now!

I think it was originally believed that flowers would ward away evil spirits. Now it has become tradition. It’s not important I guess but I think you’ll feel empty when you walk up the aisle.Answer by Perse
The bouquet started during a time when the modern amenities we have today were not readily accessible and so showers were infrequent. As such, people smelled really bad. Not wanting to stink up the room on their wedding day, brides carried a bouquet of flowers to cover up their odor and prevent offense. The stink is gone but the tradition goes on.Answer by Tamara
A bride would carry a bouquet of flowers so she would smell nice. This tradition came from “the olden days” when people only bathed once or twice a year.
A bride can carry anything she wants, or nothing at all, though unless she has a hand or two to hold while walking down the aisle she might not know what to do with her hands.
