We can all agree Bollywood is trying to form too much into the Western Culture. I wish we could keep the old Bollywood from the 70’s-80’s. Mixing all the enlish in with hindi/urdu/etc is making it too confusing to really get the idea of the music anymore..
I really don’t think it makes a difference. Indians are integrating more English into their speech, and that is reflecting itself in the music. Hits like Sheila Ki Jawani and Munni all have English in them- but why is that bad? Indians speak English now, as well as Hindi! We can’t expect our music to stay stagnant with Kishore Kumar esque lyrics.Answer by Samir Kapoor
Discowale khisko b
hai deshi beat bajani
I mean not 100% desi but lyrics should be pure deshi. There are some new songs which were biggest hit with very less use of English.
-Munni badnam hui
-Aila re aila from Khatta meetha
-Hud hud dabang
-Humka peeni hai
-abhi kuch dino se
-aynvi aynvi from band baja barat
-bade dilwala
-bahara
-behti hawa sa tha woh
-bheegi si bhagi si
-chan ke mohalla from action replay
-chori kiya re jiya from dabang
-dilkash dildar duniya from ashayein
-dum dum from band baja bart
-gal mithi mithi
-hare kanch ki chudiya
-ibn e batuta
-ishak se mitha
-ishq ki gali from milenge milenge
-janiya teri hansi ada from musaa
-kyun mang khali hai(ek second)
-title song milenge milenge
-o bekhabar
-pee loon
-pyar itna na kar (a flat)
-sajde kiya (khatta meetha)
-sauda hai dil ka from aakrosh
-surili akhiyon wali
-tere liye(prince)
-tere mast mast do nain
-udi from guzarish
-wallah re wallah
-zindgi do pal ki (kites)
from the list it’s clear that English isn’t necessary for producing hit songs.Tere liye of prince is it’s best example. It is one of most rocking & biggest hit of the year.At the begining of 2010 it was the biggest hit where there was not even a single English word.Answer by ashi
Of course they can compose songs with pure Hindi only, i don’t think they need English.
