AlexSmith: Ballet…?
I really want to learn ballet. But I’m 14 and don’t have any experience with dance. I’m kinda flexible and have been playing soccer and basketball since 3rd grade, so I’m strong. I can do the 5 basic ballet positions. So would it be hard for me to learn later than most other people?

NO! theirs a girl in my class who started when she was 13 and she took 3 classes a week to catch up with her age group. a beginners class, an intermediate class, and an advanced class. now 1 year later shes in the company and a really great ballet dancer. i LOVE ballet and id suggest it for any age! try this website. its good for all the questions you have about any type of dance. good luck!

Answer by benjilover31197It doesn’t matter when you start dancing as long as you do it and you work at it
I know many people that started when they were 18 and they are dancing at Julliard and Pointe Park
So don’t be discouraged about your age, just go and try it out
Answer by Lily EAbsolutely not! Darcy Kistler started ballet training at age 12 after playing sports her whole childhood. She was accepted into the School fo American Ballet year-round two years later. As long as you work to learn you’ll be very well off. C: Good Luck!Answer by leapnjen
You sound like me sorta. I’m 14 right now. I started ballet when i was 11. I was a very athletic child, and even though i started late i managed to work my way up to being the lead of the ballet in 3 years. I was lucky though, because i had natural tallent and streangth. But sounds like you are strong, and with GOOD training and HARD work and dedication, you will pick it up fast proably. Just make sure you use good technique, adn go to a good teacher.
Glad to help,

Of course not!!! If you just work hard, you’ll be able to catch up to the other people in your class in no time! Besides, you’re strong and flexible, so what’s the problem???
