It will be very very hard to achive, and iff you just want to do it as a hobby thats fine, but don’t expect to beocme professional. You should by a book that has picures that go along with the steps. I have a book written by Merril Ashley and she has some step by step pictures of her doing certain steps, if you could find a copy it’s “Dancing for Balanchine.” You could also get a little kids ballet book.
Hope this helps!
Answer by hihiTheir are many places with reasonable ballet tuition prices.
Teaching yourself is seriously not a smart idea.
You need to be taught by an actual dance teacher, in an actaul dance studio, with some real ballet music.
Otherwise why bother? 🙂Answer by Tori
At first you should really work on pointing and flexing your feet. A point is when you extend your toes (obviously) a flex is when you make your feet go to a 90 degree angle.
TERMS YOU NEED TO KNOW
1st position/2nd position/3rd position/4th position/5th position
^ These 5 positions are the structure of dance for feet ^
1st position/2nd position/3rd position/4th position/5th position
^ These 5 positions are the structure of dance for arms ^
They have the same name so you would say ” arms in second” or if you just say “fifth” it reffers to feet.
BAR===Put your left hand on a bar (or counter… somethig about as high as your top rib that won’t move)
TONDUE (Spelling?)===
ONE ARM IN SECOND (ONE ON BAR)
Put your feet at first and point your right forward then put it back WITHOUT bending your knee do this twice then do it at about 10:00 (or 2:00) 3 times(pretend your feet are the center of a clock) Then do it at 6:00 3 times. Do it at 10:00 again. DO THIS USING LEFT AND RIGHT!
RONDASHOMS (Spelling?)===
ONE ARM IN SECOND (ONE ON BAR)
Point your foot foward from first (12:00) pull it around to 6:00 and pull it back into first. 3 times. Then do (12:00) to (10:00) 3 times. Then do (6:00) to (10:00) 3 times. LEFT AND RIGHT!
These are the basics. If you want more Info just tell me I need to go to Lyrical… (Ironic?) BYE!
Answer by AnnieHYou can look online at ballet videos, such as YouTube. You can also read about some exercises to do online. You can try David Howard’s Ballet Video. Just look on Amazon. I’ve never tried the video, but I have a friend, who is good at ballet, and she used the video. There are tons of books on ballet. Amazon will probably be the cheapest place to look online. You can also try a used book store. Since your mom was a ballet dancer, you could ask her questions if you get stuck. Such as when you’re reading a ballet book and you come across a step you don’t know, just ask your mom how to do it. Hope it goes well for you! Don’t give up and just do the best you can.
