Mr. November: How much an average tourist spends in London during 2 weeks’ stay, excluding accommodation?
Median amount within the whole market – I am not interested in extremes like backpackers or celebrities 🙂
All costs, but excluding accommodation and flights top/from London.

It’s impossible to say. I don’t know you or what you might like to do. You’ll probably need at least 30 pounds a day do cover the basics like eating, transport, admissions.
My son & I were there for a week in November and we took £620 (about $ 1400 with the exchange rate I got) and I ended up putting around $ 400 on my credit card.
Almost all of my entrance fees were already paid for, however. The only thing I hadn’t yet paid for was Westminster Abbey. I also already had my Oyster card for the Tube. I had a £50 Oyster card and used only about half of it (I stayed in Zone 1) so a £50 card should work well for you. You automatically get the best rates with the Oyster card.
I mostly paid for souvenirs and snacks and meals; I only took one cab.
I noticed while there that whatever you’d expect to pay for something in America with dollars, you can pretty much expect to pay the same amount in pounds in England. For instance, if you’d pay $ 2 for a bottle of water in the States, in London you’ll pay about £2.
Hopefully that will help you estimate what you’ll need.
Have fun 🙂
Answer by worldtravelerThis is simply impossible to answer because, aside from the extremes that you mention, we all have different standards.
The best thing to do is research hotel costs, transportation in the city, the cost of attractions, and add it up yourself.
Then, double the amount, and you’ll have enough.
Answer by dann_501What’s an average tourist??
(1) single person…. eating out, sightseeing, drinking.
Approx. £100.00 per day (central London)
I have intentionally left out transportation.
The above is based on the assumption, that you will want to do the normal touristy things.
There are some, but not many free attractions in London, and the ones that you have to pay for can quickly eat into your budget.
I drive a London taxi, and know what people are spending, it’s an expensive capital, both to live and visit, so my figure of £100.00 per day minimum will just about get you a decent holiday.
Obviously if you go out of central London to say, the east end of London, food wise, you could get by on £10.00 per day, or cheaper if you can stomach McDonald’s everyday .
My philosophy is, when going abroad: if you can’t afford it, dont go, what’s the point in going all that way, only to scrimp and scrape when you get there, it can be so disheartening to miss out on what’s on offer.
Hope this helps, sorry to be so brutal with the answer, but unfortunately that’s the way it is here.
But if you do come, enjoy yourself.
