lizchic13: What is the average cost of a private maternity hospital room?
I am trying to plan for the future as far as how much I will need to put out towards a private maternity hospital room alone…Is there anyone who could help me? I’ve looked around at some hospitals here in Southern California but can’t find prices anywhere. Help?

Your best bet would be to call the labour and delivery ward at the hospital you’ll be having your baby and they can answer that question for you.

Answer by Sarcastic OracleI looked all over the net for some information and the only prices I was able to find are in the UK (I was on the USA Yahoo and USA Google sites).
I think you should call around to hospitals and clinics and ask. If you have insurance, contact them as well.

The hospital charged my insurance company $ 17,000 just for room and board for me (doctor’s fees, procedures and nursery costs not included) for my four-day hospital stay after my c-section.
It would be far cheaper for you to get health insurance now. Pregnancy is not a pre-existing condition, so you can get insurance while you’re pregnant.
