Sophie: Are you supposed to avoid sex during the week you’re taking the white sugar pill?
I’m on a 28 day birth control (Sprintec 28) and my period usually comes about 2 days into taking the white sugar pill. My period is usually over by the last couple days of me taking the sugar pill. Am I supposed to avoid sex during those last few days? Do I need to wait until I have the regular hormone pill back in my body for a few days before having sex?

you can have sex whenever don’t worry
and you don’t even have to take the fake pill you know
just keep taking the real ones at the same time and there effective for everyday even the fake days when you have no pill
Nope you’re still protected. Those “inactive” pills really just exist so you can stay in the habit of taking your pills. You’re fine.Answer by Fridays
Nope you are fine to have sex during the week you take the inactive pills.
There is no risk of pregnancy, as the hormone pills do all the work to prevent pregnancy in the weeks before.(providing you have taken the hormone pills at the same time, have not had diarrhea or vomiting, and have not taken antibiotics).
The hormones firstly trick the body into thinking ovulation has already happened, so the body does not need to produce the extra hormones needed to sustain a pregnancy. Because of this deception, no egg gets produced. No egg = no pregnancy.
Secondly, hormones make sure the lining of the uterus stays thin, so if there WAS a fertilised egg, it cannot implant into the uterus and develop into a baby. And thirdly, the hormones make sure the mucous in the cervix stays thick, which makes it difficult for sperm to penetrate.
The bleeding you have during the sugar pill phase is not a real period. It is called a withdrawal bleed, as your body is temporarily withdrawing from the hormones.

Answer by VeggieTart — Praise Seitan!Nope. The sugar pills are so you can have your period. You don’t even need to take the pills if you can remember to start your pills again. It’s just a filler.
