Cj Toddy: Any other psychological things like the Macdonalds triad?
I came across the Macdonald’s triad a while ago and found it very interesting and I was wondering if anyone knew any others like it, such as the dark triad for example.
Thanks in advance,
C.

First, it is important to point out that a certain error in logic is often made, namely that because certain characteristics are often found among certain characters or events, such as in serial killers, that the reverse is also true, that a set of characteristics NECESSARILY indicates that a person will become a serial killer. For example, it has been found that most people who abused as children were abused as children, but it has also been found that the majority of people abused as children do NOT go on to abuse children; many people who are abused do what they can to be sure other children are NOT abused.
There are many sets of characteristics that are typical of certain psychiatric diagnoses. That is how diagnoses were developed. Are there other triads? Maybe. Someone could always come up with them. But psychiatry is not a Star Wars activity; someone could develop a Dark Triad, but a name is just a name. Concepts are mnemonics of the imagination.
