hanalwala: What food to give a 12 week old african grey parrot ?
I would like to give fruits and veggie mixed in grinder to my parrot. Is it better to make it into paste or just grind it for a while and give it to be fed in a spoon ? How many times a day ?

give it cut up apple. yumm. it will love it. and if you feed it with your hands u r training it too.
Im not sure of the maturation process of african greys. I’ve never owned one of that species myself.
But there is a bird treat called “monkey bread” and you can grind that up and make it into a paste by adding a bit of water, and feed that to baby birds through a syringe. You know the kinds with the plastic tips, not a medical one with the needle of course.
It’s fairly nutritionally complete for a baby bird in that they can easily survive on it until they are ready for more adult foods, and is supposedly easier for them to digest than fruits and vegetables when they are young.
Hope this helps.
Answer by BirdmanDid you buy an unweened parrot without knowing what and how to feed it? Have the person(s) you bought it from teach you what and how to feed it correctly.Answer by Ruins
Hand-feed him with baby food, like Pablam. My grandma was a breeder of many birds for about 30 years. She owned an African Grey and fed her Pablam when she was still a baby. She used syringes and sloowwwly eased it out into the birds mouth. Don’t gag the poor thing…or drown it.
It’s too young to eat apples and such. Hard food won’t be good for him (or her). As for how many times a day, I’m not sure really. I think Grandma fed hers at least a couple times/day. I was young then, so I don’t quite remember.
By the way, those are beautiful, intelligent birds. 🙂 Treat it really well. My grandma’s used to tease the dog…calling him over to the cage then asking himif he wanted a bath lol.
The more you handle and talk to them, the friendly and less likely to bite they’ll be. Remember that part.
