Picture Imperfect.: What are the advantages and disadvantages of soccer globalization?
I have to do a Spanish project on globalization in soccer, like how soccer involves the union of cultures and things like that. What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of this?
For example, for an advantage I said that soccer can tie people of different cultures together as they have something in common, encouraging peaceful interaction. For a disadvantage, I said that sometimes globalization of soccer can make the sport such a vital aspect of the country’s economy that the country becomes dependent on it for revenue.
Does anyone have any other ideas?

DISADVANTAGE: It would then be capable of boring the pants off of gazillions more people around the world.
Answer by EricAdvantage: the professional levels would be more elite, with more people competing for spots on a team.
Disadvantage: it would make it less of a cultural pride thing if it was world wide
Answer by ChoDuffieldYour advantage can also quickly turn into a disadvantage when fans forget that it is only a sport and take the on field rivalry off the field. British hooligans from the 80’s and 90’s come to mind.
