johnnr05: A computer program called Antivi took over my computer. How do I get rid of it?
I recently did a system restore on my computer and have yet to reload my antivirus software. Apparently somewhere along the process something called Antivi took over my computer and I can’t do anything, not even get to my task manager to end the program. Any advice?

Step one=Download MBAM!
Step two=Rename the file to something other than MBAM.
Step three=Boot into Safe mode with networking using the F8 key just after the BIOS screen.
Step Four=You may or may not be able to install MBAM in safe mode but try. If it fails do to windows installer service not running then boot back into windows and take step Five.
Step Five=End any services that look suspicious. after that try to install and update MBAM.
If successful then go to step six.
Step six=
Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.
Click to select the Turn off System Restore check box. Or, click to select the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box.
Click OK.
When you receive the following message, click Yes to confirm that you want to turn off System Restore:
You have chosen to turn off System Restore. If you continue, all existing restore points will be deleted, and you will not be able to track or undo changes to your computer.

Do you want to turn off System Restore?
Click OK or YES.
Step seven=Boot back into safe mode and do a full scan.

Good lunck!!!!

This is a polymorphic infection, which means this bug has the ability to randomly create its folders, files and registry key values as anything it once to. Because of this feauture Antivir Solution Pro is able to stay one step ahead of typical security programs and scans. This requires a manual removal. It is known to disable MalwareBytes.

DO not download any of its programs, they are root kit infections. More on the topic can be found here.
